Sun's Halo

Have you seen the ring around the sun today?
The talk of today happen to be about the ring around the sun. And after endless trips outside, the clouds finally cleared a bit for me to see this ring that everyone is talking about.

But what does it mean?
After about an hour of searching the internet, it still isn't clear to me what exactly is taking place. All I have gathered so far is that it is called a halo, and a lot of people believe it means there would be a change in the weather. On other sites it was said be rings caused by cirrus clouds and moisture high up where the temperatures are well below freezing. The moisture turns into ice crystals, which reflects the sun light, creating a halo or ring.

Whatever it is or means, I think it's absolutely beautiful. I must say, nature is such a wonderful thing.

Did you see the halo today? Have you ever seen a halo? Do you know what it signifies?

Much love,

A Day at the Beach

Two days at the beach in a week....wow!!! I did good. This coming from a person who lived 20+ years of her life across the street from the beach, seems unthinkable. But since I moved out on my own I hardly ever get to the beach. Now, for me, two days within a week is a record. I went to the beach Last Thursday and again on Tuesday.

Last Thursday I needed to get away , relax and clear my head. For me there is no other place than the beach to do this. The crashing of the waves, the freshness of the air always puts me in a zone fit for relaxation. And on a week day, when there is almost no one at the beach if my favourite time to be there.

I packed a bag, got out my swim wear, jumped in the car, picked up my good friend Desta, and headed for the beach. We ended up at Vessigny Beach, which is on the Southwestern side of Trinidad. It was the first time I've ever been to that beach. Sadly I didn't get to take a dip in the water as it was too shallow...yes too shallow, I prefer the water above waist height. However we did get to explore the beach, relax and catch up...and that was well worth the drive.

On Tuesday, on my work stay over, at the Complex; I enjoyed a couple of hours on the beach. It was so beautiful, I wish I had packed a swim suit.
This is the Mayaro beach on the Southeastern side of the island, a beautiful beach with somewhat rough waters.

Isn't it beautiful?

I was actually up at 5, before the sun was out, but went back to bed and got up at 7. This is what my morning views looks like:
1. The sun rising from the east
2. First signs of light coming into my bedroom
3. Morning mist in my view north

Photo A Day Challenge January: Day 10

January 10 - 6:42am - at my parents

Childhood

Orange tree, mango tree, portugal tree, coconut tree
This mango tree, though small, has been around since I was a child. This tree, one of the many fruit trees in my parents yard, was the first tree I learned to climb.

I enjoyed and still enjoy the fruit of this tree.

Rock Climbing

I had a very interesting and adventurous weekend. I went ROCK CLIMBING!!!!!!
Climbing
I can't remember when last I was so excited about doing something, this was very exhilarating.
Stepping off is the most difficult part for me

Rappelling
It was something new, a bit of a challenge, very adventurous for me, but I enjoyed it, and apart from a few bug bites, this was the best weekend in a long time.

I plan to keep up this trend, 2012 is a year for adventure. Who knows, maybe next I'll try sailing or diving.... hmm....

Much Love,

Locked In

After a night shift, one of the most relaxing things for me is a stroll on the beach. To feel the early morning sun on my face, the coolness of the sand, the wind caressing my body and blowing through my hair, the coldness of the water against my feet, the smell of the ocean...

I'm always at peace when at the beach, especially early in the morning.

Sadly, this morning I was not so fortunate, as the gate to the beach was locked. But I still got to enjoy the wind and sun on my face, and the beautiful view.

Here are a few photos of the view

Hope you enjoyed the views a much as I do.
