Oreo Truffles

I not a fan of sweets, but I came across this recipe at The Girl Who Ate Everything, and I decided to try it.

I have no regrets what-so-ever about trying this recipe. They were so good that I had about 5 (normally 1 of a sweet would have been too much for me).

I made some changes (really 1) to the recipe on her site, I added some almond essence.

Here is my version of the recipe.

12 packs 1.33oz Oreo cookies
1 8oz tub Philadelphia cream cheese
1 teaspoon Almond essence
2 cups Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips (for coating)

Crush the Oreo cookies (I put the in the food processor)
Mix crushed Oreo and cream cheese until well combined.
Roll into 1 inch balls and place on wax papered baking sheet.
Refrigerate until firm (I place them in the freezer).
Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler.
Using a fork and tooth pick, dip the Oreo balls into chocolate coating and place onto waxed paper to harden.
I got about 28 truffles (but they didn't all come out evenly sized).

Do enjoy,
